Frequently Asked Questions
How should I prepare for my treatment session?
MFR requires the use of the skin as a lever into the fascial system. Therefore, I recommend that you wear or bring a pair of comfortable gym shorts and for women, a two-piece bathing suit or loose fitting shorts & sports bra. Please make sure your skin is clean and dry, as this technique involves no lubricants.

What will MFR feel like?
Much of the work will feel like a gentle stretch or pressure. In areas of fascial restriction, you may feel soreness, but we will work together to adjust pressure if the stretch is too intense. Bodywork is most effective when your body is not resisting.

How long does it take to get relief from chronic pain?
Its hard to say how quickly relief will come; every body is so unique! With acute pain from a new injury, pain relief often is significant in the first session. With chronic pain, it often takes more time. This will be discussed more during first session after I gather your medical information and do an evaluation.

What sets MFR apart from a traditional therapeutic massage?
Aside from the technique itself, it really comes down to the results. While the work appears to be gentle, I am working on a very deep level and focusing on the cause of the issue to relieve the fascial restrictions, which provides long lasting results. Fascia (3D connective tissue surrounding every internal part of our body) is made up of 80% collagen and 20% elastin. Elastin is stretchy and more easily manipulated with traditional massage. However this component of the tissue tends to bounce back which is the main reason you feel better for a few days after a massage and then later the pain comes back. While collagen, the majority ingredient in fascia, is tough thus requiring time and sustained stretch to release the restrictive tissue. It has been scientifically proven that it takes at least 3 minutes for the restrictions of the collagenous aspect of fascia to melt. Researcher, Dr. Paul Stanley, found that after 3 minutes, 3 different types of interleukin (communication proteins needed for healing) is increased. At 5 minutes, the numbers double. This is why MFR is not only effective but achieves long lasting results!

Do you take insurance?
At this time, I do not. I will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement.
